Antenova announces the opening of a West Coast USA office, and the appointment of Norm Smith to lead US operations

Antenova Ltd, manufacturer of antennas and RF antenna modules for M2M and the Internet of Things, is opening a new base in Santa Rosa, California, and announces the appointment of Norm Smith who joins the company in the role of Vice President, North America, and will lead the company’s US operation and further expansion in America.

The new office will contain an RF laboratory and test equipment providing both technical and sales support and opened from the 1st September 2015. It means that Antenova, a UK company, can offer local support to its growing base of customers and partners in North America.

Norm Smith’s role is to lead Antenova’s business development and technical support activities in the US and Canada, and to work with end customers, manufacturers’ representatives, and distributors to promote the sales of Antenova’s embedded antennas, RF antenna modules and related RF design and support services.

Says Colin Newman, Managing Director at Antenova:

“We are delighted that Norm has joined Antenova. He brings an extensive technical background in RF and antenna design, which will enable us to collaborate more closely with our US channel partners and end customers on new designs for connected devices, and his knowledge of our markets and customers in the US will be hugely beneficial in accelerating Antenova’s growth in the Americas.”

Norm Smith adds:

“It is an exciting time to join Antenova, as we are offering antennas that are perfect for the fast-growing M2M and IoT markets, which provide a massive commercial opportunity for Antenova’s extremely efficient embedded antennas and RF antenna modules.”

Industry analysts expect rapid growth in the M2M market as enterprises adopt Cloud Computing and the Internet of Things, and consumers increasingly rely on smart devices and social media. Gartner has recently predicted that Smart Cities will use 1.1 Billion connected devices in 2015 and that this could rise to 9.7 Billion by 2020.

Antenova will be exhibiting at the CTIA Supermobility 2015 show in Las Vegas from 9 - 11 September, at booth 5153, in the M2M Zone. Colin Newman and Norm Smith will be there to meet old and new customers and will be showing: a new antenna solution for TransferJetTM, a new GNSS module for On Board Devices, and a completely new range of flexible antennas for consumer devices.
