While digital components and wireless modules have been scaled down in size and and vastly improved in performance in recent years, this same 'die-shrinking' process can't be applied for antennas.

This creates something of a problem for design engineers being asked to produce 4G and 5G devices that are smaller than ever while delivering market-leading wireless performance.
